Description

About SH2-216:

This large planetary nebula is the second closest to Earth and is very faint in that even the hydrogen inside is weak.
This largest known planetary nebula is located at a relatively close distance of 425 light years from Earth.
Additionally, SH2-216 is recognized as one of the oldest planetary nebulae in existence. Its apparent diameter ranges between 1.6º and 2°, providing a sensation of climbing by exceeding the Moon's diameter of 0.5°.
